I yahyu

What parent doesn't long for those sweet words to come unsolicited out of their little child's mouth. Brenna blessed both Nathan and I yesterday. Nathan was first when he was walking out the door after lunch. She said, "Bye Bye Daddy. I yahyu!"
Needless to say, he had a hard time leaving after that. He came back to give her one more hug and an "I love you, too" back.

Later, I was sitting in the chair with Brenna after she woke up from her nap. She leaned over to pat my back and said, "I yahyu, Mommy". The sweetness almost brought tears to my eyes. What precious uncomplicated words those are from a child's mouth.

Yes, she still may be learning the meaning. At bath time, she was playing with her cow and horse toy when she made them kiss and said, "I yahyu, Neigh". (I think those words were coming from the cow.)

There are many parts of parenting that I wouldn't trade for any amount of money in the world.

Playing with Daddy

Okay, so Brenna is now awake after less than an hour nap. Needless to say this will not be the complete dialogue of our Spring Break and Easter holiday. I thought I would share a little of what Brenna did with some of her much needed Daddy time.

They built a fort....

...and watched some TV.

They played the piano.

They dyed some Easter eggs....

...shirtless and pantless (for Brenna)...
...and hunted them...

...in their Easter Best.

Easter and Spring Break

I wanted to post all the pictures from Spring Break and Easter, but I just don't have time today. They are yet to come. Today I have a list of things I need to do at nap time. I don't think I will finish it, but I wanted to say Spring Break and Easter were good. Pictures are to come telling all the fun things we did with Daddy, Mimi, Poppi, and Nena.

Sports

Nathan has taught Brenna all about sports in the past few months. It started with football. He loves to watch UGA play and has taught Brenna to yell "touch down" every time she sees a game in progress. She also recognizes the letter "G" and knows to say "go Dawgs". I guess that is one part of Georgia that will never leave her.

Let's see. The next sport that came on was basketball. She began by yelling "touch down" for that too. Nathan came up with "slam dunk" instead. She still seems to prefer touch down, but will yell "slam dunk" when told she is watching basketball not football. She laughs and apeases us.

The most recent one is my favorite of all. He has been working on base ball now. To which she replies "home running". Don't you just love that. I can't bare to correct her on that. It is just too cute.

We are leaving for Houston tomorrow. If I don't get any more posts before then, I hope everyone has a great Easter. Enjoy time with your family, friends, and Savior.

In the Spirit of Palm Sunday

Yesterday in church, we read the scripture where Jesus comes riding in to town on a horse (as our version said) that had never been ridden. That made me think, "Were the horses/donkeys of bible days different than ours of today?" I think it was a miracle that Jesus made it into town on that horse. First the disciples threw their cloaks over the horses back. You never do that for the first time and expect the horse to stand still. Then Jesus just got on him, and rode through town. Can you imagine how loud and dusty it must have been? All the people were yelling their praises to Jesus and waving the palm branches. Most horses that had never been ridden would have fled in fear, but there is no record of a fallen Jesus or people trampled. What made this horse different? I wonder how that horse knew his royal duty. He was divinely appointed to carry the Savior of the world. I was just wondering.

Okay, one picture that has nothing to do with Easter or Jesus.
Is she an 80's reject....a flashdance wannabe....

...or does she just have a mom that doesn't like her good clothes to get dirty?

Firefighter Lessons

Today that loud fire siren we experience here in Karnes City went off again. Luckily it was before Brenna's nap. With any luck it won't go off again while she is napping now. I was in a different room and of course she came tearing to me. She is so afraid of loud noises. So I held her at the window and we watched for the fire trucks. We told the fire trucks "Hi" as they came by. Then we told them "thank you for helping people not get hurt". I tried to give a mini lesson on what heroes our firefighters are. I wonder if her two year old intellect understood. I guess she understood some because for the next 5 min. before bed she continued to say, "hello fire truck" and "thank you fire truck". Maybe I made one step in the right direction in alleviating some of that loud noise fear.

Waiting for Daddy

There are many times at the end of the day when I feel like we are both just waiting for Daddy to come home. But, the last few days have been long for all in the Jones of Texas family. She has been at the window several times a day asking for her Daddy. I actually find it quite precious.

She will get to see daddy a lot next week though because he has spring break. Yea for all of us.

Creativity

I have been busy sewing lately. I have enjoyed every minute I can get with some material and my machine. I also love seeing the finished project. I love being able to create something unique out of a flat piece of fabric. So here are a few of my most recent projects (although I can't show all of them because some are gifts yet to be given).

Brenna has also been able to show off her own creativity. I pulled out the finger paints for the first time the other day. Yes, I did say the first time. I have a hard time with messes. She loved it and the mess was manageable. She started with just a finger, but by the end she wanted her whole had to do the painting. I hung her masterpiece on the frig. Now every time she goes by the frig she says "ninger". She had a good time.

I also love this picture. Unfortunetly it turned out grainy, but I still love her face. Brenna is learning to jump. She has been going around the house jumping everywhere. It cracks me up. Enjoy.

Pictures

I realized I haven't posted any pictures in awhile, so I thought I would post a few. Brenna and I did our normal things today except we played outside at our house instead of at the park. Well you can see what we did.

Every Mom Needs....

... a night away from their child every two years. Yes, I am sad to say that it took two years for me to have a night away. I would have done it earlier, but there hasn't been the opportunity. I had a wonderful time at the "sprinkle" on Friday night and my wonderful husband let me stay away all day on Saturday too. I literally shopped until I dropped. I probably spent way too much money, but I had several things I needed to get done while I was in town. I had a great day going from store to store 23 pounds lighter than normal. I do have to say I was happy to see my little princess and husband at the end of Saturday, but I loved every minute to myself.

Unfortunetly I spent part of Sunday and all day on Monday trying to survive a massive migraine. Oh how I hate those headaches. Paul says he had a thorn to bear and always asked for God to take it away. My thorn is firmly implanted in my head. It is especially hard now that I have a little toddler to care for when I can't function at all. Hopefully I have taken some stepps that will help these painful days to become fewer.

Today I made some very yummy muffins for Brenna and I for breakfast. They were super healthy and we both loved them. I'll see if Nathan likes them too. I have my doubts. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to share the recipe.
